Callista - Did it just suddenly stop?  I hear it can run in cycles.  Unfortunately, I have an unavoidable trigger so I guess it's with me for life.  (I also have an avoidable trigger, but there's no way I'd ever get rid of the Real MB.)

Toffee - You see, I've been telling everyone for ages about how it's not always nice to share (particularly chocolate), but nobody believed me.   Grin

Mine started spontaneously when I was 25 and I had recurrent cases of pneumonia to go with it.  I was put on inhalers and Theo-Dur but managed to get myself off of those (my weight went up tremendously on Theo-dur).  By the time I was 32, I considered myself basically cured.  I did a lot of walking in all types of weather to strengthen my respiratory system.  I still keep an inhaler with me 24/7 though because the things that trigger mine are chemical related - especially chlorine bleach and industrial strength cleaners.

No asthma for me. My best friend has really awful asthma & allergies of all sorts and she spends most of the winter (and summer, if the air is dusty) wheezing. Sad
But I'm sure I'll get a REALLY nasty cold during officer training. Large amounts of people all crammed together and not sleeping enough is a sure recipe for an epidemic!

Of course it's not nice to share chocolate.  How silly.

It just started spontaneously when I was 13, went away, came back and went away again, like you said, in a cycle. But it's been 6 years since my last even slight problem so I'm hoping it's gone for good.

Mine started out of the blue, too, a few years ago.  But my cousin was born with very severe asthma.  We sat at her hospital oxygen-tented cot on many occasions, expecting her to leave us at any moment.

She's now just had her 21st birthday and, although still tiny (even shorter than me and can only children's clothes are slim enough to fit her), she's fit, healthy and her asthma has vanished.   Smiley

I've had two asthma attacks and both were when I was overweight and put under extreme physical pressure (ie, being forced to climb a very steep mountain too quickly on a field course at university)

Both were horrible and scary and since I don't have asthma at all usually I didn't have an inhaler, I just had to try and get my breath back to normal on my own.  In the case of the mountain incident, a lad called Phil noticed me having difficulties and dragged me and my huge backpack up the rest of the mountain to a place I could sit down, bless him.

Part-way up a mountain is definitely not the best place to be if you have an asthma attack.  Poor you.

My first one happened when I was back up home for Christmas.  We'd been to a friend's parents' house for dinner and had to walk a few miles uphill (but not up a mountain, thank goodness!) because the roads were impassable due to snow.  I hadn't been diagnosed yet, so didn't have an inhaler either.  Very scary.

Mind you, the second time (and the worst so far) happened when I did have an inhaler.  Unfortunately, it didn't help at all so I had to be taken to the emergency doctor.

Oh I know that. The second time my asthma appeared it was just as I was starting a 2,000 ft hike! My brother was so pissed off that we had to turn around and go home, he was all geared up for this big hike and so was I!
